Beautiful Border Garden in Bexley

We love brand new gardeners!

A lot of our clients are brand new to growing food at home. They are interested in trying, but feel very nervous about getting started. Almost every single one tells me that they are afraid they will kill everything.

Spoiler alert: they never kill everything.

And this particular client is no different. We met in the fall of 2020 and she wanted to start growing food at home, but didn’t know where to begin. I remember feeling the exact same way when I first started. This is why newbie growers have a special place in my heart.

With limited yard space and two small kids, we did not want to take up a lot of lawn space. So we found the perfect location, bordering their driveway and their backyard.

We created a custom design that had a small footprint, but still had plenty of space to grow.

The garden was installed in early Spring of 2021 and we were able to plant all three growing seasons in this beautiful kitchen garden space. I met with this client a month after our first cool season planting for a one on one coaching session. We reviewed the S&V four step process for maintaining the garden and made sure she felt confident to keep growing.

During a visit to this kitchen garden in late summer, this client told me how much her and her family had been enjoying planting, tending, and harvesting from the garden.

She was amazed at how many things could grow in such a small space and was finding so much joy in the process. It truly warms my heart to hear words like this from clients. I have loved watching this family grow this season in their beautiful and thriving kitchen garden.
